How does one know – or paint – everything? What is everything? Once it was only available through religious belief, celestial metaphors, or superstitions about the supernatural. Science now tells us that reality includes matter we cannot see but which is critical to how the visible world works. Full reality exists and fluctuates according to unknown, even supernatural rhythms which are always shifting around us. My painting constructions tell stories, then collapse those narratives and strip them away. Pure material is left through a sculptural alchemy where paint becomes something else. I want to bring out the resonance of the material to let the viewer sense the gap with the intangible and to express the awe and horror of walking through a three-dimensional world we do not quite understand.
